Mk105 'Tempest' Ultraheavy Torpedo
Length: 6.6m
Width: 1 meter
Weight: 29484kg
Warhead Weight: 6350 kg
Guidance: Principally, the Tempest uses passive sonar and LIDAR for target detection, along with inertial guidance relayed from the sub upon launch. The Tempest also has active sonar and MAD for late phase and terminal run guidance.
Propulsion: Pumpjet/MHD engine. The Tempest is extremely quiet, and can also be used at depths exceeding 1km. The maxiumum speed is 80 knots with it's LFGs.
Range: 250 nautical miles. The enemy will never know who, or what, hit them.
The Tempest is highly difficult to detect thanks to extensive stealthing features. One blow from this weapon will destroy or mission kill virtually all targets. Think of delivering 28 or so Harpoon missiles to one spot. Now imagine that spot being below the waterline, where the armor is less. The detonation of a Tempest below a ship will break a carriers back, a direct hit will almost vaporize frigates, and blast other vessels in half. When you really, really need it do die, choose the Tempest. Tempest can be fired by using external pods on most submarines, and they are designed for stealth and hydrodynamics. However, some UCSNE submarines have 1000mm VLS racks for such weapons. They can also be ship launched.
